WHAT IS THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF CORPUS CHRISTI?
JLCC members are women dedicated to improving our community. Members come from varying backgrounds and interests and share a commitment to volunteering. JLCC members are professional women, stay-at-home moms, and college students.
HOW DOES THE JUNIOR LEAGUE IMPROVING THE COMMUNITY?
The Junior League seeks to initiate projects where community needs are great and participation of its members can be effective. Once a project is successfully under way, it is turned over to an appropriate community agency. JLCC is making a major contribution to the community through its members' volunteer service. JLCC offers women the opportunity to improve the Corpus Christi community through the League's projects. For a description of our current projects, please see the "JLCC Today" section of this website.
Current members must affirm the leadership capacity of a potential member by sponsoring a candidate membership. A prospective member participates in a one year in-depth study of the community as well as various aspects of the Junior League.
A potential member must be a resident of the Corpus Christi area and be at least 23 years of age.
WHAT ARE THE FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS?
The financial obligations for JLCC members are as follows:
$ 310.50 New Member Fees and Dues (first year only)
$ 228.00 Active Annual Membership Dues
An additional in-kind financial commitment to a Junior League fundraiser could be required. Each year League members will be required to work fundraiser hours.
Is having a relative who was in the Junior League a requirement of membership?
No. Membership in the JLCC is open to any woman who is at least 23 years of age and who lives in the Corpus Christi area.
How many members are there in the JLCC?
JLCC has approximately 429 members and is one of 292 Junior Leagues throughout the world. The Association of Junior Leagues International has a combined membership of approximately 196,000.
Can a membership transfer to an other city?
Yes. JLCC recognizes that professional or personal obligations may require a move out of town, which is why a local membership is transferable to another Junior League in another city.
Is the Junior League a Social organization?
Our focus is on building a better community through trained volunteers. While working together in volunteer efforts, members naturally develop camaraderie and lasting friendships.
How much time will be required from me?
Your volunteer time commitment will vary depending on your placement. You should plan for the equivalent of 3 hours per week.
Please remember, an Active member must serve as a sponsor for someone who is interested in becoming a Junior League member. However, if you do not have a sponsor one will be appointed to you.
