New to the Junior League of Corpus Christi is a STEM based program geared towards children, aged preschool to middle school, aimed at increasing a child’s exposure to science and math while enriching their learning through hands-on activities. R.O.C.K.E.T.S will volunteer at three local elementary school science fairs and will be hosting an after school STEM based workshop program at Kostoryz Elementary School for about 75 students. The goal is to make a positive impact on young minds while encouraging learning in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math.
Thanks in part to a generous grant from HEB Tournament of Champions, R.O.C.K.E.T.S. has been able to expand its scope of operations during its second year in the Junior League of Corpus Christi. R.O.C.K.E.T.S. has streamlined its focus to provide Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) enrichment activities to elementary school children. The curriculum and hands-on activities are designed to increase and engage a child in the STEM fields. This year, R.O.C.K.E.T.S. is providing after-school workshops to Oak Park Elementary School and to Zavala Elementary School in addition to co-hosting a Family Fun Day with the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History. The goal of R.O.C.K.E.T.S. is to make a positive impact on young minds while encouraging learning in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
